The Lovely Bones is a novel written by Alice Sebold. A young girl by the name of Susie Salmon was on her way back home from school. As she was walking through a field of grass Mr.Harvey, also known as her neighbor, had approached her. He invited her into an underground room where he then raped and killed her. The family and entire town was in shock, although no one know Mr.Harvey had killed Susie. The entire book consists of the family grieving, the characters developing into different people, and the family, especially the father and daughter, trying to figure out who Susie’s killer was. I highly recommend this book since it presents different emotions and moments of suspense, thriller, and overall fear. The characters specifically cause the reader to feel certain emotions such as Mr.Harvey causing fear and eeriness in the reader, and the father showing desperation and sadness. All in all, the book consisted of great character development, a unique and interesting plot, and several emotions ranging from sadness to anger to fright.
