The novel, Before I fall by Lauren Oliver is about a 17-year-old Samantha "Sam" Kingston. She is killed in a car accident in her hometown of Ridgeview. She describes her horrifying and painful death; and what flashes through her mind in those final moments. However, she wakes up the following morning in bed. Heart pounding and bathed in sweat, she is surrounded with the memory of her still fresh in her mind. She eventually realizes that for some reason, she is fated to relive the last day of her life. February 12th, also known as Cupid Day at her high school, over and over, she relives until she gets things right. I highly recommend this novel. Sad at some points but I couldn’t put this book down. This book is about teen suicide however, it highlights it in a different way. The novel gives insight about the typical teen; and shows how high school student are more than the stereotypical smokers, partiers, and kids with bad grades as portrayed in movies. I would rate this a 9/10 and hope you enjoy as much as I did.
