I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves YA Fantasy. This book is filled with magic, action, and romance. It is about the island of Fenbirn where every generation of triplet princesses fight to the death for the crown. Each princess has their own significant power. Those powers are a poisoner, someone who is immune to poison, an elemental, someone who can control the elements, and an naturalist, someone who can control plants and animals. This story is told through each queen’s perspective, so there is a lot of drama surrounding each queen. There is a huge plot twist in the end that I loved, with a big cliffhanger. I enjoyed it, and I hope you do as well.

The Complete Sherlock Holmes: Recommended by Cassandra Meyer

The Complete Sherlock Holmes is where the original Sherlock Holmes short stories are combined into two volumes. My personal favorite is Volume 1, which is all about Sherlock Holmes and his partner, John Watson, who solve murder mysteries for Scotland Yard, the police form. Sherlock has amazing cognitive abilities and observation skills, which allows him to piece the parts of murders together to find the true culprit. All of the mysteries are very intriguing and it is amazing to see into Sherlock’s mind. Most mysteries are very interesting and are almost impossible to piece together until you see the way Sherlock sees the scene. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for good mysteries to read.

The Lovely Bones: Recommended by Sydney Rosario

The Lovely Bones is a novel written by Alice Sebold. A young girl by the name of Susie Salmon was on her way back home from school. As she was walking through a field of grass Mr.Harvey, also known as her neighbor, had approached her. He invited her into an underground room where he then raped and killed her. The family and entire town was in shock, although no one know Mr.Harvey had killed Susie. The entire book consists of the family grieving, the characters developing into different people, and the family, especially the father and daughter, trying to figure out who Susie’s killer was. I highly recommend this book since it presents different emotions and moments of suspense, thriller, and overall fear. The characters specifically cause the reader to feel certain emotions such as Mr.Harvey causing fear and eeriness in the reader, and the father showing desperation and sadness. All in all, the book consisted of great character development, a unique and interesting plot, and several emotions ranging from sadness to anger to fright.

My all time favorite book is Hamlet. Hamlet was the first Shakespeare novel I have ever read, and it was filled with revenge and tragedy. Each time you read this play the story seems to change dramatically, because of the hidden symbolism and conspectuses behind each line. It is an adult read so if you get uncomfortable easily, or you are not mature I would not recommend. If you are ready for murder, death, love, and betray step in to Denmark's grandest castle, if you dare.

Six of Crows: Recommended by Gabriella LeGates

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo is by far my favorite book. I’ve always loved fantasy stories but a lot of the time I found it hard to relate to characters (like in Lord of the Rings, great characters, but I just didn’t connect with them). However, in Bardugo’s book, it combines a great fantasy novel with relatable, young characters. The book takes place in a world based off of Tsarist Russia with a magical system, on an island called Kerch, in a city called Ketterdam. The main character, Kaz Brekker, is a thief known as Dirtyhands, he is one of the most famous cons in the Barrel, the rough section of Ketterdam. He is hired by a merchant to kidnap a scientist held in Fjerda’s ice prison. Shockingly, the seventeen year old criminal prodigy can’t do it alone. He gathers up a crew consisting of Inej, an ex acrobatic turned spy, Nina, a Heartrender (a kind of magic user, capable of manipulating the body), Jesper, a sharp shooter with a gambling problem, Wylan a runaway with skill at demolition, and Matthias, a former Fjerdan soldier who was thrown into prison. All of these characters, however, are teenagers, which helps me find them a bit more relatable. The story is told through alternating points of view between the six characters. However, I would not suggest this book to the faint of heart or the extremely squeamish as there is quite a lot of violence, blood, and some pretty nasty stuff. Other than that, this book gets a 10/10 from me.

The novel, Wonder, by R.J. Palacio is about a ten-year-old boy named August, or "Auggie", who was born with a facial deformity that has made it very difficult for him to make friends throughout his life. He has been home schooled up until now, and his parents have decided to enroll him into a private school called Beecher Prep. While in this school, Auggie interacts with many new people and classmates, something he is not used to, and along the way he learns that some people can be cruel, but others can become close friends in a short amount of time. This book has an interesting and emotional plot and once you begin, you will not want to put it down. Also, it provides a new way of telling the story by having each chapter take place from a different point of view, allowing insight into each character's perspective. Overall, I would highly recommend this book and I hope you enjoy! ~ Jordan

The novel Wonder tells the story of 10-year-old Augie as he first enters the fifth grade. He has never gone to a public school due to a face deformity that he has suffered from his whole life. Despite this, Auggie is actually extremely bright and him and his family decide he is ready for the next step in his education. At school Auggie meets many people, some that will continue to be a good friend to him, others that prove not to be as nice as they seem. Every time I read this book I end up in tears by the end because of how connected I become with the characters throughout the book. As readers, we know how sweet Auggie is and how lucky anybody would be to be friends with him, but the kids at school cannot see past his appearance, only being small children. This book is a very easy read that I think everybody should experience at least once. It has been extremely popular for years and was made into a movie in 2017. If you’re looking for a quick, emotional read, I would definitely recommend this book. ~ Gianna

I highly recommend reading the book Wonder, by R. J Palacio, because it is a great story about people overcoming their problems and rising to the top. It is about a boy who has face deformities and is going to public school for the first time. In this book there is another subplot about his sister and her problems that she faces as well.  What is different about this book is that the narrator of the story switches between the characters so you can see the different point of views of all the different people. Overall this book is a very good read and I highly recommend reading it. ~Molly

The Giver: Recommended by Camila Delgado

People should read The Giver because it is a great book. It kind of shows people a different perspective, or a new way of living that is less fortunate, the people just don’t know it. It is about a dystopian society where there is no color, every marriage is arranged from computers, and it is very futuristic with very strict rules. Many things that are “unsafe” are taken away from them such as snow, color, and many other things, and nobody remembers any of it except for one person called, the Giver. One special person is “chosen” and when it is reported, the Giver shares the memories of everything such as snow, color, and many other things that nobody else knows of. The main character, knows that it is wrong for them to take away those rights of those memories so they team up and the new Giver and his little baby brother try to go give those memories back to everyone. This story is very interesting and gives great descriptions and I personally love books about dystopian societies.

Every Last Promise: REcommended by Katharine Brown

The Novel Every Last Promise written by Kristen Holbrook is a simple read but introduces ideas that are commonly not expressed in your childhood. It promotes awareness of sexual harassment, self confidence and drinking awareness which are often neglected in books  for younger audiences. A young girl in a small town located in the Missouri deals with a tragic death that appears as her own fault. It brings to the attention that you cannot always trust the people that you surround yourself with. The product of self defense leaves the young girl Kayla to lose her friends and the support of her hometown. After the scene of the crime, she heads off to Kansas city where she lives with her aunt and learns the value of self love. In the end she finds the people who have her back and the people who were fake and two faced to her. Definitely a good book to pick up if you want to learn about horrific tragedies.

The autobiography All The Way: My Life On The Ice goes through Jordan Tootoo’s early life as a child growing up in Rankin Inlet. For perspective right now the average temperature up there is -28 Fahrenheit. He grew up in a very small town and was very remote. Despite being remote the still had access to alcohol. Unfortunately growing up he had to deal with a alcoholic father and mother which resulted in him later in his life also becoming a alcoholic. Despite the odds not being in his favor he battled his way to the NHL. While in the NHL he was admitted to a alcohol rehab during the season. The book while being short, is touching and really gives you a responsive on things and reminds us how lucky we are.

The Outsiders written by S.E.Hinton is a book about kids who live rough lives and are always getting into trouble. The main character Ponyboy has a rough life but his friends help him through it. Him and his friends are called the greasers and are well known throughout the town. I think this book is very suspenseful and makes you want to read on and see what happens next. At one point in the story one of their friends gets into a brawl which causes them to all go into hiding.  Some of the members try to gain redemption but others face a tragic end. I recommend this book to people who like suspense and drama.
